Fireball Fish

My buddy had this board shaped. It's supposed to be a replica of the "Fireball Fish" that Curren rode in huge Indo in his vid. My buddy ended up trading it for something else before he rode it for some reason. Has anyone owned one or know of anyone who has one? What are your/their thoughts? Was my buddy a fool for not keepin it?

The swallow tail looks narrower tip to tip than what I remember. The ones I had were six channels with no step. I had a number of similar boards. Funner than hell in typical CA surf. Those channels will make you REAL popular at the glass shop though.

That fcs system is a total turn off to me and probably to your buddy too. He knew what he was doing trust me.

I've had one for a few years and have ridden it quite a bit. It took alot to get used to, much more so than other boards. For me, it doesn't go well in small slop surf, but in bigger surf (headhigh) with some push it works really well. It's got more of a pulled in outline and caries alot of foam rail to rail, definitely more of a pig shortboard than a fish.

Yeah, yeah, I know the difference. That is why I put "Fireball Fish" in quotes in the body of my post. I was told that that was the name given by the shaper, who originally came up with the design. I googled fireball fish and found a surfermag article that mentions "Fireball Fish" in quotes. http://www.surfermag.com/magazine/archivedissues/dawnparmenter/index1.html
