JJR: What lokbox fin compares to the FCS trailer fin (base 3 1/2 in • depth 3 5/8 in)? If you see this, please disregard my PM.

I was thinking on my regular shortboard keeping the RPF(4.5) or LB5 sidefins and putting a trailer for the back fin (the LBJT?) when the surf is really weak. What do you think? Any suggestions? Thanks.

I'd throw a 4.35 RPF in there. But you could do the LBJT as well. We make many other trailers also. Let me know what you think.

Yo!

Reports I got from Haks had three people hovering over my board with the directions you PM’d me (Which I forwarded to them) for their first solo LB install. I love being a guinea pig. Board is ready to be sanded and may be in my hands by this weekend. Did you inquire about the turbos? If they are already in the works, let it be. I don’t want to jerk the rug and leave them with a low seller. But if you haven’t got around to it yet, or they haven’t started on those things and the stock fish fins are readily available, just go with the stockers.

The sun came out, the wind has backed off and I got a new board coming. Suddenly I’m stoked to go surf it ASAP!

Thanks.

JJR is right, you won't want to go crazy-small with standard sized side fins, you'll just slide out. Options galore with this concept though ... You can get some bigger side fins and go with something really tiny as a trailer. I've used the Red-X XT-1 set a lot, which is set up like that, and I love it. Or you can just go with a slighly smaller rear fin (like a gremmie size fin) and keep the sides the same. That would be roughly like the K2.1 FCS set.

The board will be looser and have more effortless/skatey speed, but less drive the farther down this path you go. Def. fun to mix up on small days if nothing else ...

Thanks amigo! Too cool. The fins are due to arrive the same time as my board. I just love it when a plan comes together. Once I have the board and fins in the same room I’ll snap some pics for you. And like I said, call me when your heading north. It doesn't always work, but you never know...
