Anyone on here flown Fiji Airways from LAX to Nadi lately? If so how much did they end up charging you to carry one board with a total dimension of less than 109 inches (i.e. my board bags length + width + thickness = 108 inches).

Thanks for any advice anyone can give me on this. Seems like it could be total sh!t show.

I paid in advance for two coffins (one is 7'6", the other is 6'6") - cost me $330. So $165.

Alternatively, you could fly "business class" (it's first class really) and your board bag is free. The ticket will only cost an additional $6k per person. Whatabargain

I got lucky both waves and no fee, of course I has two children under 5 that were crying so they may have just taken pitty on me

I think they didn't charge me because it was counted as one of our allotted checked bags

Forecast looking solid. Days before look pretty small. Thinking of bringing the following

- 6'0 SharpEye I72
- 6'2 Ghost
- 6'6 Hess thick stepup meant for OBSF

Could switch out the Hess for a 6'2 CI Pro, but I think the days in the image above would warrant something a bit meatier?

Last time I was in Fiji I remember wanting more board a lot of the time. Surfline is calling this 6-8ft but I feel like it'll be bigger than that

You're going to score.

Bring two boards: 6'2" Ghost and 6'6" Griffin. If you must bring three, bring the 6'10" mini padi.

ONLY bring boards you've ridden before, know, and love. You don't want to be experimenting and discovering new boards while in Fiji. You want solid and trustworthy.

Man echoing what everyone else is saying. So jealous and looks like with that swell all the waves in that area will be working!

I was there in November and Cloudbreak got a massive swell, guys out on 7'6's and a tow team out. I went to Swimming pools on a 6'2 Ghost and got OH+ to DOH waves to myself and two other guys on SUP's... One of them being former WSL CEO Erik Logan, did not see him make a wave haha

That way if something happens to one of the shortboards, you're still set. Fiji is a great set up where you don't often need a bigger board despite bigger conditions.

fucking pumping all week let week.

But to keep this on point did the board pack vis waterways, was $316? I think

At the gate would have been $165 each way depending on the agent.

One guy I know was charged both ways, the other only on the way there .

Yea I got destroyed on the way from SF there. Something like 340 a board bag because of the check in baggage fees ($200) on top of the board fees ($140)

On the way back it was a lot cheaper as they charge in the functional currency of the country you're flying from (FJD), and I think the Fijian airport people care less

day 1, sat. maxing cloud break, I got abused, went past proper restaurants to get washed over the reef and take a tour or the tower. , went home humbled and battered

day 2- 5, surfed pumping restaurants 6-7 hours a day, overhead to well overhead . fucking stoked

days 6 and 7 , human sized CB, was crowded but fun

Day 8 surfed restaurants again, wasn't great but fun, morning session was chest to head high, afternoon wind a bit weird and the new Tavi crew all over it. prob most crowded session,

overall reef cuts everywhere, bruised , sunburned and stoked
