Cops looking to ask some questions.

”"The person he shot was in the process of committing robbery and consequently his use of force in defense of himself and innocent third parties is completely justified in Texas," former Houston police officer, now lawyer, Thomas Nixon told KPRC-TV. "He was reasonably in fear of serious bodily injury or death."”

If you have arrived at the decision to shoot someone you made the decision that your life is in danger and the only remedy is to take the aggressors life. If this standard is met there's no limit to the amount of bullets you can put in that person. If he had his hand on the gun and was moving he was still a threat.

He shot him 5 times after he was down and incapacitated. It stopped being a justifiable self-defense shoot after the first couple of shots. Aggravated manslaughter.

Dude had a gun. You have to make sure he's not getting back up

lol

Sorry, that's not how it works, nor should it.

Any self-defense course will teach you to keep shooting - because you never shoot to injure, only shoot to kill.

It's actually a main takeaway from the class. Especially for people who carry smaller caliber weapons. You empty the magazine. "Keep shooting until it clicks."

The reason for this is the level of adrenaline (and often the level of narcotics) in the assailant's system during an assault, robbery, etc can make it very difficult for them to be incapacitated.

This is one of the reasons why people shot by police using handguns are generally shot so many times.

Adrenalin is incredibly powerful...as in superhuman powerful. A few weeks ago I was one of 8 guys holding down a patient who woke up from anesthesia in a psychotic state. This was an average size guy... Years back saw a patient in his 30s with Down Syndrome who was probably 5'3 take on 4 guys, dislocating the biggest guy's shoulder in the process before they were able to pin and drug him.

Not in texas,
Not anywhere AFAIK
