All progressives are terrible on civil liberties and just hold a modern form of racism. Wilson is as close to an archetypical progressive as you can get.
But then again, what people call "liberals" today aren't liberal at all either

There was a time when clean air and water were more important than the "existential threat" of AGW and systemic racism.
Now we ship everything one at a time in little and big cardboard boxes filled with waste packaging and techno-fad gadget crap that gets thrown out in a few months. Forests of the world be damned, and landfills/toxic dumps are in some other countries backyard.
The sustainability of The Amazon has a whole different meaning now.
