Hey. I was thinkin of goin to Costa Rica, but someone suggested el salvador instead.

Do yall have any info on it? OR any websites? I would like to research the place and see the costs and what spots are good, the best season, etc. (for el salvador... i already have a book on costa rica lol)

Also what would be the cost for 1 week, and for 2 weeks in these places:
Costa Rica
El Salvador
Hawaii

Here's a short summary:

Costa Rica: powerful punchy beachbreaks, fairly cheap living costs. Not that much localism, just a tiny bit. Not really civil unrest, the people that live their are not too unfriendly.

El Salvador: Cheapest living costs. A bit of civil unrest, don't do anything stupid, don't go out at night. Don't go in the area of La Libertad, that's where you'll most likely get into trouble. If you stay out of the city and go to places like Zunzal then you'll be okay. LONG, peeling, perfect right pointbreaks.

Hawaii: well, you know it's reputation by now.

why would transport be more? i looked up taca.com and the plane ticket price is the same as costa rica...

Could someone give me a general Price range for each of those 3 places?

How consistent is El Salvador compared to Costa Rica? Is it always glassy and no closeouts? [in the american summer ie good season]

How many of these fuggin' crazy ass posts are you going to make kid?

Seriously - you need to just take a deep breath and relax. Then just do some research (use the Internet!), and take your time. Nobody can give you a price range b/c there are so many different factors involved such as types of accommodations (luxury vs. feral), restaurant costs (high end or budget), different vehilces (luxury SUV vs. budget roadster) etc. etc. etc....get it?

Have you tried Lonely Planet's Guide Books? They have all the **GENERAL** pricing information for food, accommodations, and flights to many countries. I think you need to go to their web site ( www.lonelyplanet.com ) and spend some time reading up. Then go and buy the 'Guide Book' ($20/each) for each destination you are interested in.

I know you are excited about trying this surf travel thing but you seriously need a Chill Out Enema or else you are going to cause yourself so much stress (and others around) before the age of 21.

im not payin for a book on a country that i dont even have any idea if i want to go to or not yet. (I ALREADY did that with COSTA RICA)

and this is.. my first post on el salvador.

yes i know there are different facors, i asked for a general price for 1 ,2 or 3 weeks in those places. Just tell me a general price. Mid range.. decent place to stay (i.e. air conditioning), but nothing nice. U can figure out a price from that. I need to know price to know where to go.
If el Salvador is super cheap, i can maybe stay for longer and get an extra board in the deal.

Plus, i checked lonely planet.. but i need info on how good and how big and how glassy and how hollow and how consistent the surf is. And yes ive done a google search.

JLW, why would i not go to La Libertad? that has some of the best surf.

Why would I not want to go to Libertad? That's where the best surf is
This is what a guy who went there a few times told me: There was a huge civil war there not that long ago. There's still some civil unrest. Everyone has a gun in El Salvador. When I say a gun, I mean the kind you shoot stuff with, not the surfboard. They don't like Americans very much. He said that he actually saw a woman just standing there with expensive ear-rings (she was American). She was just standing there minding her own business when all of a sudden some guy comes up to her and RIPS THE EAR-RINGS RIGHT FROM HER EARS AND RUNS. She's bleeding all over the place and the locals don't even do anything. That's just an example.

They would shoot you for 20 bucks in a heart-beat.

He said it's pretty safe outside of the city, though.

Go to wannasurf.com for more horror stories of El Salvador. I wouldn't believe all of them though. I'm sure a lot of them are exaggerated, but the ear-rings story is from a guy who I know pretty well and sounded very sincere. He said it was pretty crazy *****.

El Salvador can still be safe if you don't go out at night and stay out of the city. Like I said, Zunzal, which is out of the La Libertad area is sort of off the beaten track.

If you want perfect pointbreaks, El Salvador is the place to go. Just be careful.

Do i need a car in Salvador? OR will i still get amazing conditions if i just stay at one hotel i n front?

These are the prices i came up with from LONELY PLANET.com FOR TWO WEEKS in the 3 places. Includes FOOD and LODGING(place to stay):

2520 HI , 700 Salvador, 1400 Costa Rica From chart above

1400 HI, 350 El Salvador, 700 Costa Rica From Paragraph

You know, I dont mean to be insulting to you or anything but maybe if you are asking these type of questions then El Salvador might ont be a good choice for you. Costa Rica might be a place where what seems like your naievity wouldn't stick out as much.
