I ordered a big guy board from a local shaper and he suggested step rails. I see that proctor does a down rail. which one is good for riding/carving?

i'm gonna put my money on neither. never got the pleasure of riding a step when iw as at WEIGht....rode a down. Down was great...until it got unpredicatable/unbalanced. just a normal, semi tucked rail, scaled to your size works best. in my opinion.

Both are good
Down rails are normally used on full foil boards
Step rails will keep the board looking a bit more modern and feel modern under your arm
