Ding repair a problem on international flights!!

On the way to my last international surf trip in Sept. 2004, two of the guys on the trip had their board bags searched and their ding repair kits snatched! They said it was "bomb making material" and said resin was prohibited for carry-on or check-in.

My bag was not searched, so my kit was the only one for the two week trip, lasting for about five days.

The question is, have others been snatched? To what destinations have they been snatched? And is this a common rule or was that an isolated event from a by-the-book security agent?

I'll do some research and get back to you guys. Let us know if you have info on the matter.

I have heard that has been a problem lately, too. However, I have been bringing Dingleberries(not from Uranus) and have had no issues. Because you cannot pass through travel inspection with resin based products anymore, Dingleberries is ideal for any surf travel. It's an epoxy putty for almost any ding repair, and it doesn't need UV and it cures in water almost as well as out. It's not the same as your typical resin, but it will do until you have a chance to do a good job.

I've used that back in the day, it stinks to high hell! The only problem that I found, other than the smell, is that it never hardened completely, making it stick to the sand paper when I went to take it off to use resin.
