Its been a little more than a year since I bought a board and finally im tempted to give it a try on another daily driver other than the wil twinzer (6'0) and alpha omega 5'9.5 twin with a trailer, to be exact want a thruster, the coil which i got doesnt have enough foam any more for as often as i surf and hesitating if i should go with another coil again? want that extra paddling power but HP, as always want a board that will work in both worlds like my 2 daily drivers as mentioned above, any recommendation? Im 5'9 & 155# but I only surf 2-4 times a month for last several months and want an extra volume but still can turn on a dime, is there a such board? Who makes best front footed friendly and forgiving thruster? Wave target mush Thigh high to headhigh (2'Oh mush)

I was thinking of getting something like what you described, and looking to get a ...lost rv.

Sounds like you are tied to a thruster but if you'd consider a quad I'd say a Lost Bottom Feeder or similar.

Although they look like fish/crutch boards, they are actually fairly high performance and eat up mushy waves. Only thing is that the Bottom Feeder at least is more of a back footed board. Some of the other models might accommodate more front footed surfers.

If you go this direction DON'T GO TOO BIG. At your height and weight you probably want something 5'4 or smaller. Trust the volume numbers and disregard the dimensions. My 5'5 has 3 litres (10%) more volume than my 5'9 Mini Driver and I could have gone down a little more. I'm 5'10 and 160 pounds and have ridden the BF with a 5/4 boots/gloves/hoods and it was still plenty of volume.

sublime, you won't like it if you go too big. Take care of the mush with width and rocker, not volume.

Go for what ever retodd's suggesting.. I've had a high success rate by following his advice( 3/3 A+). He knows frontfooted as well..

I could see him as some kind of surfboard agent/broker in the future.

He is a bit of a savant when it comes to surfboards. I think for Coil he'd put you on a modified Widerboard

Im 100% on a thruster since im fully equipped with other fin set up boards, Im super tempted for another coil and also retodd, he always has been my go-to-Budd for all the Qs and the Ideas, width and rocker not the volume thing got me thinking...

DHD Double Shot. Works like a charm in those conditions. don't expect miracles though, thigh high mush is longboard territory... the board will really shine from waist/chest high to just overhead. It likes mushy conditions better than steep walls, but I'd say it works best in between both.

I just picked up a Squish & Squirt from Plus One a few weeks ago. I got it to fulfill the exact criteria you are looking for.

I'm a bit bigger then you, 5'11" 195. I went with a 5'10"x20.5x2.5 33l. The board has been working great. Very fast and agile.

This is what I think I'm getting for smaller and or mushier days around here:

But Retodd had nothing to do with it!

(I think we all know that's a lie)

I'm having great luck with my V3 Rocket, very front foot friendly, turns quick. Paddles extremely well, I like it as a quad and thruster. I did a ton of fondling and reading before buying, my other option was a Buzzsaw. I couldn't be more stoked!
