Cost Rica ??

I am going to CR in June for a week--Yipeee!! I have read old posts...Don't leave anything valuable etc. Question--If each of us is taking 2 boards, where do you leave em. Hotel?? We plan to just head towards Dominical and stay whrere we like. Another question--How much cash should we have. Is it a pain to get to an ATM? Last ?? -- Can anyone suggest any boat trips in that area (Dominical). Thx!! It's my first time to CR so bare with me...

June should be fun. I will down there the end of March. I have been to Dominical. You will drive by Hermosa. There is a boat trip you can take to a spot out of Playa Heradura. Fun reef. Check out Hermosa as well. You can get cash down there. No biggie.

the "real" San Clemente
I went in June. At The Diria in Tamarindo the hotel had a board/utility room where all the extra surfboards and bags were stored. The front desk had the key. If that wasn't available we would have just stashed them in the room. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/shrug.gif" alt="" />

Have fun.

Pura vida.

Been there a bunch of times.. First, just leave your boards in your room, they will be safe there.. Second... How long are you going to be there?.. Get some cash at the airport before you go on surfari.. figure on spending no more than 300 a week.. you can probably get by with less or depending on how much you drink maybe more....I usually get 500$ in Colones before heading out... And third.. the boat trips are for hard to reach spots like olies point up north, there may be some other trips but I haven't heard of em'.. I'm heading down to CR in a week... Later

Hey Forever!

me and my buddy Geo went down in October!
caught it fun! ( my third time).
We rented a Forerunner from Europecar also and it worked out great!!! nice and powerful, good suspension, and of course 4WD!
the Forerunners ( along with most other Costa rentals ) come with just basic steel black roof racks, NO STRAPS or anything. We brought down a pair of those black durable nylon "cinch straps", bout 20 bucks pair...and they work awesome! they stay secure, and reliable...my suggestion.

If you are going to go to Dominical, a cool place to stay are the San Clemente Cabinas, cool place ( get the top front room if its available, its got a cool wooden carved overhang porch.
**Caution: Dominical eats alot of boards on low-tide! careful!

Go into Jaco before heading down to Dominical if you need an ATM
there is one at the Supermarcado, and another at the local bank, i think, but a sure thing at the supermarket. cause Dominical doesnt have ATM's yet that i know of.
Most of the bars, restaraunts, and cabina's are taking credit cards now though too...

Your "stuff" is usually pretty safe in your room. but DEF leave NOTHING in your car at any time unless you are traveling. Me and my girlfriend brought down a few coil bike locks with us also, and pretty much locked all our suitcases, dufflebags, backpacks, etc. together, even while driving...to make it extra harder to steal anything easily.

have a great trip.
hope this helps!

pura vida!
