Sh*t.

I've heard so many good things about the CI Single Fin, that I'd finally convinced myself to figure out a way to get my hands on one. Went down to the CI shop yesterday to price them and see what they had in stock. I was talking to the guy in the shop, and he let me know that they have a new model of the Single Fin (Generation 2) coming out in the next coupla weeks.

They didn't have any in the shop, and I've got no experience with either board. He said they're designed to be ridden a little narrower. They have them in their new catalog, but not on the website, yet.

Anybody (TFAD, Pinliner, JJR, I'm looking at you) seen and/or ridden one? I figure it probably won't make much of difference which one I get, but I'd like a little bit more information.

Thanks.

They are all pretty, pretty, thanks to the guys at Moonlight.

The picture of the G2 in the new catalog shows it as just plain white. I hope they aren't moving that way WRT the stock color schemes.

Have'nt ridden the G2 we are glassing the first one I've seen.Has a more pulled in tail then the old one and a hippy goovey Thomas Campbell drawn logo. so it should work just fine. The ci single fin surfs like butter on a hot skillet really fun ,Rob and I have hot-rodded ours into bonzers with the red-x system and are loving it.

CI single fin- haven't seen any of those here in West Australia! I take it you're talking Channel Islands Al Merrick boards. I noticed Rob Machado likes those. What sizes does Al do? Some dimensions would be good:- width, thickness, nose, tail, rocker, what sort of rails. Fin glassed, on or fin box option. Wild sprays or are they all just white?! Gloss coated?
I'd love to see photo- how does one get hold of an Al Merrick Channel Islands surfboards catalogue in West Australia?
Any info, replies, catalogue, photos etc most welcome!! I have been trying to get one of these for a few months now.. I am going to order one, but I have to find out how you would order a acid splash or slob job, like the picture above.. I am waiting on Sara at CI to write me back.. I have also PM TFAD in hopes that he may be able to help me out.

I've been fantasizing about the same thing ... I bet they go awesome as bonzers. Al should offer that to the masses.

chipfish and hmmm -
The new boards aren't on the CI website yet. If either one of you wants to PM me your postal address, I'll throw the printed catalog in the mail to you. Lots of new boards in the works, including an old-school fish, a quad, and a new shortboard model.

Thanks for the info, pinliner.

I scanned the page from the catalog:

Text is hard to read.

For the MSF it says:
"Inspired in 2001 by Rob Machado, the single fin has proven to ride as smooth as it looks. Available as a 5'9", 6'1", 6'5", 6'9" and 7'0" in fixed width and thickness. All boards come with a polished gloss finish with retro style resin tints or opaques"

For the MSF-G2 it says:
"2nd generation single fin. Al and Rob Machado got together in the shaping room to create this retro beauty. This new collaboration has produced a spiral vee single fin to be ridden narrower than the original first generation. Keep in mind these are great wave catchers and fast movers due to the flatter rockers. Available in 5'10", 6'2". 6'6", 6'10, 7'0".

PLH - Your catalog is in the mail.
