I'm only 150lbs, and keep looking at the big guy tris, as the regular chip tris don't mesh with my 55 year old back and neck muscles.
I actually ride a 6'8" x 20 custom that floats me about Bbutton 3" underwater. Yeah, it's thin.
That 5'6" Lis fish I rode floats really well, paddles like a high 6' tri, but backside surfs kinda quirky.
I wonder how a big guy tri of around 6'4" x19" would work?

Now digging up $550 + tax is sumpthin else.
Maybe I'll just go for the HomeDepot styro blank, some latex paint, epoxy resin, 6oz glass, and single fin box. I gotta decide on season pass or another surfboard.

which would you rather deal with, donkeys on the mountain, or donkeys in the water? i choose the donkeys in the water.

and yeah, you should shape yourself an epoxy. since you said yourself you dont like to take care of your boards, you should make it closed cell foam though, so it wont suck up water like a sponge, like i think the home depot stuff does.

There are numerous threads on this subject if you are willing to search them out on this discussion board.

My points are:

Ride whatever kind of surfboard you want.

Don't get pissed off at surfboards different from yours.

Do not make wild claims that one kind of surfboard will replace another, specifically that pop-outs will replace customs. The shapers themselves who have contracts with Surftech do not even want this.

Use critical thinking when told a chemical is "environmental".

Be baffled that the pesky moderator of this forum surfs everyday on S glass custom polys and keeps them for years and years.

Read the infamous Parmenter manifesto on this topic.

Don't believe everything you read in the magazines.

Don't believe everything you read on websites.

When in doubt, paddle out, scream and shout.
