I tried to extend the range of mine for smaller surf by widening and thinning from stock with marginal success and agree it stands out as a NCSD step up when you have a big canvas at the reefs.

I’ve only had it out a few times in chest and above but it is very composed. I don’t love the foil in the nose but I don’t notice it except in small surf.

it’s a keeper for now but the CC Wolverine and Nautilus caught my eye after getting the lane splitter.
I’ ve been meh on the nautilus for 3-4 yrs- tri fin and i used it as a step up. Then I switched it for a 6’6 quad. That was meh too until I put in the fascination quads and it turned on. It’s 20 1/4 and 2 1/2 so a bit thinner and narrower than normal. Current favorite board in the quiver. Worked epic yesterday. I went for a bigger boar today but it would have been solid. I’ve been overriding it when I should be on a shorter boar. It’s got fish dna so it obviously likes horizontal or vertical but that comes with that design.

For me:
6’4“ Byrne channel twin pin mid length style (sold - not HP enough)
6’1” cabianca dfk (amazing)
6’0” tokoro SF3 (sold - couldn’t make it go. Felt very confused)
5’10” Dylan siamese twin (sold - didn't work in local beachies)
5’9” HS Misc (a long term favourite)
5’8” Bobby quad ( not sure on this one. Probably will sell)
6’0” Stacey Roach Classic twinny ( new. Great so far)

Much shorter list than a couple of the board whores here…

Great quiver. Add a few (a fair few) inches and I'd be very happy.
Thank you Maz. Yeah interesting comment. In the previous version of my every day quiver (always in my car), Astro twin + Pyzalien (unfortunately they forgot to put 5 fin boxes, it was only thruster and I love quads) + Ghost, all of them were a few inches longer than the actual ones: astro was 5'6 20 2.5, pyzalien was 5'10.5 19.38 2.38, ghost was 6'2 19.38 2.56.
I used to love them, but as I lost some pounds, decided to go smaller and ended up shrinking them a lil too much, even though I still like them so much. Next batch will be astro twin 5'7 19.75 2.4, pyzalien 5'10 or 5'11 19.25 2.4 and ghost 6'1 19.13 2.56.
I am 6ft tall, 170lbs as of right now (sometimes go up to 180, 185 depending on beer regimen). How heavy are you and what size and volume would you order astro + pyzalien + ghost?
ps: This is a nice thread, and would be even better if everyone posted their size and weight.

This thread is like watching Intervention; It makes me feel about my board hoarding problem seeing people way worse than myself.

5’8 Bobby Quad: Hated it sold. Maybe too big.
5’10 Flare Varial: Epic so much drive for a stubby SB gonna order some bigger ones based off this board.
5'9 Patterson S Twin
6'0 Patterson Scorpion:
6'1.5 Patterson A5J file
5'10 Twinsman Varial
6'1 Smth Shapes for Jordy in Varial

Hey Leo

I'm 6'1 x 180, but also old as the wind (60). Furthermore I've really come to enjoy longer rail boards as I pretty much only surf long points, and hence also do a lot of long paddles.
My Nugget is 5'10 and 34L, and I can surf it fine, and would if I surfed a lot of peaky little beach/reef waves, but the smaller boards have just started to feel off to me.

Pyz2 is 6'3, 36L. Ghost 6/4, 37L. Both feel great. Fantastic boards. If I were to advise a 40yo me, I'd definitely go down a bit, but reality and taste has changed.

5’8” Stamps Quantum Quad
5’8” Stamps Flare
5’9” Panda Rocketfish
5’9” M10 Hogfish
5’9” Rocketwide
5’10” M10 Puck
5’11” DK Swordfish
6’0” Surf Rx NDR (an all-time favorite)
6’0” chris borst SeaWolf
6’1” CGD good wave board
6’1” stamps grinderx
6’1” Stamps Flare up
6’4” CGD step up
6’10” Fineline Egg
9’6” Takayama Model T

Takeaways:
I spent a lot of time (and money) trying out a variety of smaller fish-type boards, and ultimately found that tail width at 0” became a good predictor of how a board would go for me. Too narrow and the board lacked drive unless the waves were shapely. Too wide and the board was sluggish and tough to ride backside.

10'0" Black Rose (Ricky Carroll) Dark Horse - 50/50 noserider.
5'10" stock Lightspeed Bean Bag -
5'9" Black Dart Puddle Jumper - a hair under volume but insane in trunks with a little chip in.
6'1" stock C4 Puddle Jumper HP - rode and abused the sh!t out of it, buckled, selling
6'3" stock Rad Ripper. Craigslist.
6'4" stock or slight plus dims Carbon Wrap Baby Buggy. Had it since new from rack, October 2020.
6'6" stock CI 2.Pro.
6'8" Round Up.

Need to lose 15# and have gotten close a few times so I haven't sold them:

6'2" Psycho Killer EDD/Domesticated.
6'4" OG Sub Driver.
5'9" Lib Tech PJ. Doesn't feel as heavy/stiff as any other (newer) lib techs. Super fast/responsive/poppy/lively Loved this thing.
Local Corevac Quad Fish.

Considering swooping in New Year:
* Smaller Bean Bag in C4 or Black Dart - up voluming didn't really help bottom end and cost a bit off the top.
* Puddle Jumper HP in C4 or Black Dart.
* Puddle Jumper Pro in C4 or Black Dart.
* Local custom 6'5" slight stap boar
* 6'6" Lib Tech Sabo Taj
* 6'9" Black Beauty - Surf Station had one of these all Spring/Summer, and like two days before I went down there to redeem store credit and swoop for Peru (and Mainland Mex and Central California), some sugarbag swooped.
* Craigslist Yolo TBA?
* Pro Lite smuggler bag
* MOAR sarf trips. (Peru, Mex, California, PR in 2023)
* Thank-you card for ENSO. Sept-now has been quite fun. Early Jan looks slow but El Nino mid--Feb to early 'cane season cutoff lows spooling up could be quite fun. Rode the sh!t out of MTB last Spring, mostly gathered dust this fall with all the surf.
