Just curious what board you guys would choose for overhead, shifty, bumpy beachbreak. I realized this morning I don't have a board that's good for those conditions.

I don't have any great input, but like you when it's clean/groomed with a little size I like my better wave 6/6 roundtail. I have to admit that when it comes to walled up, overhead waves with marginal conditions I have more fun bodysurfing/boggieboarding. I was actually up the coast a bit riding head high beach break on a 5'10" round tail quad and it was working great. It was on the way home that I stopped by another spot where the swell was hitting better...overhead with plus sets, short lulls, steeper drops and bumpy onshore walls. If I had time for another go out I would have ridden my good wave thruster (6'4"), but I was thinking I'd prefer something that would paddle a little better with the water moving around in the line up. If the conditions were clean with groomed peaks the 6'4" would have worked well, not sure it would be best for waves with a little size but marginal conditions.
hes usually got good answers and this is no exception6'0" pintail shortboard, just like the pros ride in France
i'm guessing we we're surfing the same spot yesterday. good amount of water moving and pretty nasty current sucking you into the jetty. couple SUP's and unusually a lot of boogie boarders but some of those sets where kind of soft & mushy. for that place at good size i like using a board that's very similar to a Flyer 2. I was riding that yesterday but made kind of a mistake. since it was kind of soft I should have rode my Speed Dialer or tri-fin fish hybridI stopped by another spot where the swell was hitting better...overhead with plus sets, short lulls, steeper drops and bumpy onshore walls. I was riding a 6'1" x 18.3/8 x 2 1/4 MBM. Worked great.
