It easy to foreclose discussion by resorting to slogans and epithets; classic tactic to reduce dialogue to insults.

I actually feel pretty sorry for the girl. I did a lot of stupid things when I was her age, but got lucky and didn't suffer that level of consequence.

I've been in enough fights over the years (arrested twice) to know the effect of that kind of punch - both delivering and receiving. A concussion is the least of her worries - she probably has broken facial bones.

But perhaps the saddest aspect is her failure to understand the existence of unknown unknowns. That is, she was associating with the kind of males who wouldn't be confused with the football team. If your world is comprised of 5'8 150lb unhealthy weaklings, then how would you be able to accurately assess the very real danger she placed herself in when confronting a "normal" male at over 6' 200lbs?

Sh!t, that one punch could have actually killed her.

Political discourse should have never crossed the line into violence.

It was foolish of the marxists to indulge in the idea that they could dish it out without it eventually coming back to them in similar fashion. But if this victim ever threw a punch at any of these rallies or encouraged others to do so then she's just getting what she's been giving. It's very regrettable, but unfortunately it's also predictable.

It would be better for everyone if cooler heads prevail and political expression is limited to non-violent terms. I would prefer she never got punched but I also would have preferred she never indulged in or encouraged violence herself.
