Forget the good vs evil argument for a moment and consider the practical aspects of political discourse. If you want the 40% of everyone who approve of the job Trump is doing to stop supporting him then how effective do you think the chick argument of trying to insult and shame them all is going to be for you? What incentives are you offering that would prompt any of them have to concede one inch? It's not as if they could ever do enough to make you stop screeching or to stop calling them stupid and racists and all that.
Your starting point in the discussion didn't leave any room for moderation. Maybe that wasn't such a smart idea to begin with. So yeah, there's a lot of F-U going around right now. I don't know why any of you are even bothering to ask the question.
It worked for Trump.
So, you're wrong.
You're the one who is wrong here. The screeching I'm talking about predates Trump by many years. And to hear some people comment on it, that screeching is one of the things that has led to at least some of his support.
Go back and watch the post election commentary and see how much screeching there was about large percentages of people being stupid or evil. Then tell me that Trump created that whole trend all by himself.
And no, Trump calling reporters dishonest and biased isn't at all the same thing as calling every non-leftie stupid.
Besides, regardless how it started both sides are fully into it now. If anyone has any desire to see both sides working together on anything of substance then the only way that happens is if people start exercising more restraint WRT making every disagreement personal.
