OK if we're gonna go all porn here - I bought a new Martin D28 acoustic which was a major thing for me and suddenly I had to worry about humidity in the winter. I was able to keep it at 45% RH with just a sponge in a slit ventilated zip lock bag in its case. I saw humidified display cabinets for 5K but then I started thinking about China cabinets on Craigslist - they practically give them away. But China cabinets are too shallow for a big acoustic 12" or 14" inside depth usually. After a long, long Craigslist search I found a cabinet with 18" inside depth for $200. The cabinet is from the 1850's to 1920's judging by its feet and cylindrically produced wavy glass (yes I learned way too much about it). I sealed the cab joints and glass with silicone, adapted rubber door weatherstripping to seal the doors, modified a "Rock Solid" floor standing guitar stand to fit inside like its two shelves and added decor and some really small LED floodlights for a subtle mood. The bottom is hidden by curtains and is a great place to store guitar tools and stuff. Four 5" long sponges sitting in 3/4" of water treated with humidifier bacteriostat evaporate enough water vapor to offset the cabinets losses and keep the RH at 53% all winter.

The things we do for love!

The erbb keeping me honest

IT all becomes a blur at a certain point.

After my parents died I became disconnected from time.

I find it funny when people intentionally beat up polyester finished mass produced guitars as a cheap relic.

nitro or bust!
I have a pathetic story about this I'm too embarrassed to share.

Let's just say if you're negotiating an item on Reverb and the buyer takes it down, don't message him a few days later and ask if it's still available.

I'm always afraid to do that because I'm afraid someone will snatch what I'm looking at.
Just keep it vague about the location and just ask about, age, price etc of those Squier japan models., don’t post the link or say where you’ve seen it. People are pretty cool on there generally anyway & im sure it will show up on google for anyone looking hard enough for that model already?

Eg got the chance to buy........ for $x, dunno if it’s worth this much please educate me.

Need to take my Lyon Series Washburn to a luthier, it probably needs all of its electrical componentes replaced and then some. Nice to have a guitar at home though even if I don't play anymore, kid could get interested eventually.
