we are getting the cheap air brusher from foam ez soon and i was wondering what the skinny on the airbrushing was.

do you water down the paint? how much?
where do you buy the paint?
how thick should it go on?

thanks

Search the archives on Swaylocks; all kinds of info on this there. Many people recommend thinning with Future acrylic Floor Finish to the consistency of heavy cream.

Other people use Future acrylic to seal blanks before and after painting and to seal the edges of masking tape so pinlines don't bleed through.

Many ways to do everything. Moonlight has probably already explored most of them years ago.

Search Swaylocks; it's a good way to learn.

tempra needs to be watered down alot more than acrylic. make sure its pretty thin..flows well off your stir stick.

not sure what gun or brush your talking about...but if its the touch up gun it won't work well in large areas. comes out blotchy.

u really need a pretty good sixe compressor for a gun. anything over 30 gal works best. i have a 30 gallon tank and on larger designs i gotta fill it up twice.

you can buy a nice gravity feed gun at harbour freight or home depot. dont pay over 60$. start out cheap.

dont buy hvlp either. they seem a little tougher to start out with. i dont liek em

yes!...try to buy flat paints. nothing glossy, or glittery. there are certain types that work. but ive come across a few that sure as hell dont.

your first board will probably be super blotchy. but it looks cool and can be concidered a sort of design. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

took me about 10 boards to finally get some solid colors.

your main priority should be spraying it on light.to much and you get the "c word"

wait ... "glam glitter pink" is outta the question? i dont know if i even wanna surf anymore.
i just got a great idea. a few more years down the line when i am a really good surfer, im gonna get a pink polkadotted surfboard. right now id just look like a gay kook if i started spouting off "pink is punk". give me two more years.
