Been using the Speedo ergo ear plugs for 10 years .
They cost around £6 here in the UKScreenshot 2023-01-17 at 19.36.08.png.
Some people cant get them to fit but worth a try because of the low cost.

Surfer ears expensive up front but unlike docs do not need to be replaced every year and +1 customer service:shaka:

can you hear normal with surf ears?

don’t like earplug leashes.

can you go without it or do they fall out a lot?

No
Yes
Leash is rubber and stretches never tight on neck and you get used to hearing with plugs regardless of brand and kinda nice with chatty kooks out in line up

I pretend to not hear what I can hear from the lineup chit chatter.

I want to hear my spray and the churn of the wave behind me on big days.

@sdsrfr have you tried docs vented before  I feel it you can hear equal good with surf ears plus better protection. I am not sure I would chance them with out leash but never once came out while surfing. Only issue happen on shore pulling out plug by tag mentioned above.

I got custom Eartune, vented, going on 3 years with no issues.I wear them all of the time. I just got second pair. Your custom fit remains on file so easy replacement. When buying they told me to get a bright color in case I drop it.
Are those really that much better than Mack's? ENT doctor in Santa Cruz told me that all you really need is something to keep the wind and constant flushing out. Mack's do that just fine for me at least.

Doc's is all I know, and they've worked great for me.

I took the time to get sized right. There was a dive shop near my house that had the sizing kit. I had the same pair for years since I started surfing and only replaced them a couple months ago. They never fall out, so I don't use the leash.
