side note: i found a golf frisbee disc at the beach a few year ago and it made the perfect hand plane - fit my hand perfectly so it stayed in place as a plane. for a while anyway, until it didn't.

Optional but it seems to improve hydrodynamics, even on a lithe body like Mark's (check the ripples).
