fins, body surfing, and healing knees don't go together well, in my experience. wearing fins in significant surf is gonna twist the knees in ways it may not be ready for. ask me how i know.

If your insurance will cover one of these, get one.

I used it with fins and even kneeboarded while recovering from my op. They have water proof pads you can change out.

does he use a hand plane? in fact, are hand planes a thing at all in Hawaii or are they scorned as corny and chickenshit?

side note: i found a golf frisbee disc at the beach a few year ago and it made the perfect hand plane - fit my hand perfectly so it stayed in place as a plane. for a while anyway, until it didn't.

I've never seen Mark use one. However, hand planes are not frowned upon at all. Used to even have a contest just for handboards.
