These are also good for dismemberment. It’s similarly cold in winter here. I’ve used these for the last 15 years. You can wear thick fleece gloves underneath and they don’t get water inside so they are light paddle in. Much better than any neoprene gloves I’ve tried and last for years....
I second the 7mm drylocks. Even on our coldest days my hands havent been cold in them. 5mm boots/mitts are doable but will limit your water time....My go to is Xcel Drylock 7mm mittens. My hands get cold in anything short of these. Best money I ever spent on winter surf gear.
If you want my 7MM mitts that are barely used i'll sell for cheap. I live in CA so have no use for them anymore. Vissla North Seas 7MM mittensOnly problem is that the 7mm mittens are hard to find right now. Could use a new pair as well as some new 7mm boots. It's going to be a cold, long winter I have a feeling.
My 7mm drylock boots are shot, really hard to find any new ones right now so I bought the 8mm solite booties - havent gotten to use them yet, they are a bit odd we will see how well they work.Only problem is that the 7mm mittens are hard to find right now. rec 7MM XCEL robster craws..
split toe boots and lobster claws make no sense for me in the cold, just end up with cold big toes and index fingers....Personally I don't get lobster claws. They just make more of your fingers cold without giving any real advantage over mittens. Had both, will only buy mittens going forward. Your mileage may vary.
watching someone in cardiff with a hood on and no gloves or boots hurts my brainI am surprised this thread as gone this far and not one SD dawn patrol has shared a opinion
