Can't say what "the best" pizza is.
But there used to be place in Newport that made the Calzones I ever had.
Antonuccis?
They were the size of a deflated football, and filled with cheese-y/pepperoni goodness.
Yep, old school westside Newport Antonuccis was great, especially for the calzones. I miss those. They lasted in that location from like the 1960's to almost the turn of century. There is a very decent Italian place (Cucina Alessa) in that space now along PCH.

this thread is killing me....haven't eaten anything solid in 24 hours coz i'm getting the colon checkup tomorrow morning and those pix - every one of them - look to die for, at this point.

anyway, does take-and-bake count? for anyone in the SE, Food Lion grocery stores do a very nice take and bake that costs about $5 (on Friday - $7 otherwise) for a family-size pizza. not the best, but far better than any chain.
