twinzers and twin fins

Whats the differnce in fin placements between a twin fin and a twinzer. I notice the Kane Garden twinzers have a bonzer style concave between the fins-advantages/disadvantages? Can I (hypothetically) kick the fins off a twin fin and glass on a twinzer set up and expect an improvement?
How far up is the widepoint? How do the rail edges transition? Any help would be appreciated...Thanks

Twinzer is faster and has more bite than the twin, but shares the same limitations regarding sharp bottom turns and going vertical. The Kane Garden twinzer is a really, really fun board. The only drawback (which is significant for a $500+ board) is the glass job and the FCS fins which like to come out.

i am pretty sure pavel does a twinzer fish. sounds like a worthy experiment. you could just grind off the twin fins and try adding a set of twinzers on that sucker, the worse that could happen is you grind those off and put the twins back on.

Thanks for the replies- I'm actually thinking about having the board glassed with Resin Research epoxy so its either lighter and as strong as a normal poly board or about the same weight and stronger. I'm just trying to get the bases covered before I go talk to people about building it...

i'd just stick a rusty c5 fin in front of the twins, its close enough.

Obslop, what's the problem with the FCS on the KG twinzer? what would be better fin system for that? I just shaped a twinzer like the KG and was planning on using FCS because I don't think any other removiable fin system would fit in there. I might go with glass on's.

ok lokbox fit, but I want to go with FCS unless someone can explain to me why they would not be a good choice for a twinzer. I know that there are some problems with the plugs not holding in the FCS larger TF1 type twin fins. I will not be using the TF1 twin fin insted I plan on using GX for forward fins and GR for the other or glass on's in a similar size

and lokbox won't come out either? I would try Lokbox but the fin box looks like it belongs in a surftec. I guess it going to be glass on's.
No, they won't come out, if installed properly. Saddens me to hear that someone thinks that something I designed, looks like it belongs in a surftech.

Most of our customers think they look like little surfboards.

JJR. don't be sorry I was bit retarded today. I don't dislike Lokbox. how could I. I have never tried them. I saw a picture of a twinzer on here that had lokbox and didn't care for the look but that blue/blue twiny you got thar looks mighty fine. I usually have SugarMill do my glass but they have never done a twinzer for me. been thinking of dropping it off at moonlight.

JRR and Shipman- Fins for this a twin/twinzer have me a bit perplexed and just a bit aggrevated. I found a set of glass-ons for 19.00 but they're huge and heavy. I have been putting FCS on my boards because I have an installation kit and a couple sets of fins that seem to work. Looked at MRX carbons at around $50. Light/medium sized yet expensive. Futures and Lokbox fins are also expensive albiet very nice. The expense of these systems is not the fins so much as the installation kits. I would like to get away from FCS because the plastic fins are heavy and generally don't perform well. I don't want to mess up my board trying to install any system w/o the right instructions-but droppin $200 so I can pay $45 bucks for a set of fins doesn't seem so appealling. I'm honestly thinking about making my own fin panels as I can by a blank for approximately the same $ I spend on a set of fins. If they dont work I'll kick em off and glass on something else. This might also help to get my fin placements where they should be. Thanks guys!- I just led myself to a workable conclusion. Weight + $ =
Enter your two cents-I'd appreciate it.

prcaveman, you could consider someone like Halcyon, who will make you custom fins for any system. It will be more than a mass-produced fin, but MUCH less than an installation kit.
