I have a set of FCS MR carbon twin fins that I want to use on a board with LOKBOX boxes (using the grip-it adapter rainbow sells). The question is, I've read plenty about how the increased area of this fin puts too much pressure on the FCS plugs and can cause them to fail... Is it the same situation with the LOKBOX box? I believe the answer is no since it is installed under the glass but I don't know if extra cloth is used when the LOKBOX boxes are suppose to be used with bigger fins.
Thanks.

For twin/keel/fish fins, you'll want 12 ounces of cloth around the Lokbox.

The board was glassed -I believe- at Global, and they were glassed 5/4 deck and 4 bottom... how much cloth would have normally been used to install the fin boxes?

I have a twin fin with the lokbox setup JJR helped me get. Using the CI template fish fins in it. I've ridden the snot out of the thing and it has held up fine.

I have also had a twin fin that I had FCS in and used the TF template fins in. Two broken plugs. Both in turns.

IMO, you have no worries with the LB setup.

Macsd, sorry but it wasn't me that installed your boxes, but a guy that does the boxes for global. He's good, no worries! You should have no prob with the carbon twinnies. With the fish boards that run "keel" fins, we like to use 2 layers of glass over the box, and 2 to rout through. Pretty sturdy set-up. We just use one layer for everything else. Sorry I didn't reply to your message, been super busy. You were correct about one of the guys who was in the office the other day (Jeff Clark), the other gentleman was Jim Phillips. The cost for that job on that board should be right around $60.00. Thanks

Thanks for the info guys. I've had more questions answered here and gained more surfboard knowledge at this forum than at any shop I've ever stepped into.
