What's the best way to heal it?
Exercise, rest, ice, heat?
Approximately how long to recover?

Ice it for the first day or so. After that heat it up and stretch it VERY LIGHTLY AND EASILY. If you pulled it on one side the other side may also start hurting trying to compensate for the weak (injured) side. Just take it easy for about a week and it should fell better. If not it could be Surf Doc time. If this happens often you may want to start strengthing your midsection when you're back up to speed.

Pretty darned good answer right there mister.
Rest, ice, gentle stretch.
Heat after 1-2 days of the warm soaking variety.
See your local medicine person if any associated problems or worsening.
