Vader v1 review: Rides great, fun as thruster, fits in any car widthwise.. Turns you into an olympic swimmer.
:ROFLMAO:
Vader v2 review: exactly the same as Vader v1, but no olympic swimmer training. v2 is much much better paddler. Turns better and better hold than v1 also.

Btw, do you feel that your Vader is a little thiccc? 2 9/16 on a 5’2 seems chunky.

I’m looking at real man dims on DA’s site and the 5’8 is just a skosh under 3 inches thick. It has wondering…..
Hey Duffy, Retodd and I ordered Tomos during COVID. He got an original Vader. His was 5’7, 19 5/8, 2 5/8. It didn’t seem over volumed.

I would check with Dark Arts, Tomo or Reforrest about whether the foil on the v2 is the same as the original. If it is, the original 2 5/8 should work. I would also double check that they’re not using measurements that apply to the Vee bottom because a 2 1/2 Revo with QISC measures around 2 3/4 for a Vee bottom at the same thickness, since it is measured from the spine.

I'm getting closer and closer to ordering a Vader 2. When I had my original Vader, I always surfed it as a thruster with FCS II Reactors. It was already fast enough, so never thought it needed to be ridden as a quad, but considering ordering it with just a quad setup as the man himself said that's the way to go...

5'7 or 5'8 for sure tho.

Wasn't sure where to post this, but been trying out different fin setups on the new Vader V2 and this feels pretty good. IMG_5721.jpeg

The LQ rears are actually a great template, and on loan from @JDJ. Even though they are a large fin that dont feel like it.

The legendary Al Merrick fin template by Channel Islands Surfboards. Made in the USA.
Designed with riders 165lbs and over in mind
Quad fin trailers, two fins included

Color: Black
Depth: 4.00"
Base: 3.99"
Area: 12.39 in^2

FRP (Fiberglass reinforced polymer)
MATERIAL:
Fiberglass reinforced polymer construction takes the glass flex fin to an all new level. The polymer is injected with fiberglass to create a stiffer, more controlled, and durable fin.
PERFORMANCE:
Designed to enhance controlled flex and responsiveness, while providing remarkable memory and durability. Al's design creates drive from the rake and base, while allowing pivot with the narrow tips and smaller center fin.

This fin setup felt good too. Sort of a reverse bonzer concept.

Kraken Twin fins in the front, 2+1 trailer fins in the quad boxes, and guitar pick nubster in the center.

I’ve yet to ride one of Dan’s boards that did not feel good with the AM template, both thruster and quad. For me, they add a touch of hold and control but without sacrifice any speed or planing.
