Wide frames are flimsy because one has to keep checking for congruity between the frame and reality.

Narrow frames are strong because they don't have to reflect reality.

The conservative playing the victim is dubious.

But that is what you can do with a narrow frame.

Remember when Sarah Palin would talk about how she was for the "real Americans" and not the "coastal elites" or the people blue states like me?

Why did she, and others like her, have to dismiss us as not even being American?

That wasn't very cool.

The farther one gets out on the left wing or the right wing, the more obstinate one becomes, the more dismissive of any ideas challenging one's own, the more susceptible to trolling one becomes, and the bigger asshole one is towards others not of their ilk.

Our problem as a nation is that for a variety of reasons, people are moving further out on the right and left wings. In short, the percentage of Americans that are assholes is growing.
