Surf Exploration(took a lot of time)

Ive been interested in taking a surf trip, and i was browsing the internet when i found a site called wannasurf.
This was about a week ago and ive been on it every day for hours on end compiling a list of surf spots across the globe(there are a billion). Generally the criteria was good clean waves, nice size, some barrels, and not too dangerous (exposed reef,etc)
Anyways i finished compiling a list. Some of them arent the greatest (east coast usa)... but a lot of them are really good. Anyways this took me a lot of time to do, because i had to review like every ***** spot in the world(literally), so i would greatly appreciate it if yall could sort of critique my list and help me out here.
The general idea is there are supposed to be spots to travel to( altho some of them are just if you happen to be in the area, i wouldnt travel to some of these)

I call a PHONY on this one, not necessarily WadCreek, but some names in SF.
That left is makeable about 25 days a year, and will have 50 guys on it by dawn.
Just a few guys making up some mysto spots that break maybe one month a year.

i didnt make that site, i just researched it and reviewed all the spots. anyways can yall gimme some critique here. whats good on my list, whats bad, what i missed, what places i definately should go to, cheapest places........stuff like that.

hey kid that looks good. I would add some san diego california spots in there like blacks beach and the cliffs. also soup bowls in barbados .Be careful with wanna surf as much is b.s. either kooks making bad calls or disgruntled local trying to scare people off their waves. This site is okay but still alot of attitude from some unfriendlies. There is a mag put out by surfer magazine called :The Surf Report that you can order for virtually any spot try to google it and order some for your countries of choice. Watch out for silver strsnd ventura as I am originally from there and ther are some HEAVY locals ther who might bite. The surf reports are essentially very detailed maps with descriptions of each break along with helpful info about travelling in the area and any pertinent concerns. The ate in magazine format but short 5-6 pages. If you bought the pack you would essentially get 100's of these mags each one detailing a surf area such as morroco would be #1 costa rica #2 ect. You can order them individually also which might be better for you as you probably don't want the ones on the really obscure places such as alaskaor scotland and such. I'd be stoked to help you on your trip and maybe join you for some legs of it.I can definetly help you with mexico,costa rica and cali. why don't you pm me again its a bit easier to keep up that way. I like researching travel stuff too....pura vida ...d.j.

It's interesting. In Central America you didn't even list El Salvador. What about South America? Peru, Brazil, Gallapagos, etc. Where's Tahiti and Samoa on your list?
BTW Nicaragua has no waves that's why it wasn't listed.

Forget Durban!! North beach is crap - horrid crowds and usually 2 foot onshore slop. If you like getting into scraps with a-hole locals, Durban is your town. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

If you are going to South Africa, surf Cape Town! It's much less crowded, there are more classy waves than you can catch in a lifetime and it's always offshore somewhere. The water is chilly - think N. California - on the Atlantic side, more like San Diego in winter on the Indian Ocean side - and the consistancy more than makes up for it! Oh, and it's really cheap to eat and drink - since you're only 18, legal age for having a beer is 18 too. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Then head 2 hours up the West Coast to Elands Bay. It's a left, which many consider to be almost as good as J-Bay!!

SURFER Magazine has made and updated over 200 Travel Report supplements in the past 20 years. We have used creditable field editors and SURFER editors to produce a good product for any region we have a report for. I would make sure to research where the data is coming from before taking it all in (i.e. Wannasurf.com, etc.)

The new updated STR's are full color PDF's that are digital in your own account for a full year. They have everything from updated surfspot info to maps, charts, photos and contact info (accommodations, transport, etc.).

I have launched 23 reports thus far, with all of Indo coming in December and one or two per month after that.

Also available are all the back issues.
