I'm looking to go down to costa rica for a month (or more maybe). I'll probably split my time between tamarindo and hermosa. Anybody got a good idea on how much I should plan on saving? Also I'm 19 and you have to be 21 in costa rica to rent a car, so am I totally screwed in that respect? It would suck to be their so long and not have that kind of mobility. Any special advice for someone looking for more than just a week long getaway?

month long stay in CR

Don't count out the car as a bad thing... I actually stayed in CR for about a month with a car.Since I put out about 1000 on a car I thought I could of saved much if I just stuck to the public transportation system. Are you going out there to surf or what??? CR is pretty much connected to all of its popular spots which includes Tamarindo, Dominical, Jaco,...by bus. The only thing you would have to look out for is the thievery because I heard first hand of people getting their bags stolen. Check tamarindobeach.net for more info.
