Choices.
interesting, your obsession with woke-ness but neglectful of AF.

Must be jealous AF. I suggest forming a woke meet-up group for north county and see the light.

This idea of purity and you're never compromised and you're always politically woke and all that stuff — you should get over that quickly. I do get a sense sometimes now among certain young people, and this is accelerated by social media, that the way of me making change is to be as judgmental as possible about other people and that's enough.

Like if I tweet or hashtag about how you didn't do something right, or used the wrong verb, then I can sit back and feel pretty good about myself because, Man, did you see how woke I was? I called you out. The world is messy. There are ambiguities. People who do really good stuff have flaws. People who you are fighting may love their kids and, you know, share certain things with you.

That is not activism. That is not bringing about change. If all you're doing is casting stones, you are probably not going to get that far.

If this is a critique of a 'wokeness' social movement, I agree, generally speaking, it is BS. Most popular movements are coming out of generational suffering eg slavery, racism, second class citizenry, poverty, social classes. Any kind of real change takes an enormous personal sacrifice over lifetimes. Our society is too complacent, too comfortable, too easy.

I don't know many who I would label woke individuals but the few I know are mostly concerned with gender identity and saying nice things to everyone all the time(supportive). I see it as mostly ego support. I just don't see the woke individuals coming from difficult lives. There are no shortages of people in our society who are in shitty life situations who have no other choice than to sacrifice to make changes but becoming a Positive Vibe Warrior or a They is not addressing their survival. Engaging in the trivial when everything around us is changing so quickly and often in a negative direction is maybe a coping strategy.

I wouldn't want to be a 20 something today compared to when I was 20. The future looks like sht.

People with character disorders are attracted to causes.

I raised my kids to be resilient and to take ownership of their situation. Wherever they are as adults it's by their own hand. If they guessed wrong or otherwise chose a strategy that didn't work for them then that's on them, not on their environment.

Obviously, having the ideal is way easier than living it, but the point remains that waiting for someone to give you something is an inherently bad plan which will inevitably produce weak people. It really does make them dependent on other people's actions.

Everyone has problems. Having the problem isn't the thing. It's how you address and try to solve those problems that's the thing.
