a close friend of mines dad owns a buss company. drives punk bands all around US and Canada. He's back in town for a month and thenother night he saw a few pics of my surfboards and got super stoked. trying to give me pointers. i had forgotten that when he lived back in hawaii till he was 30 he was building custom cars and bikes and painting them as well.

Even so while he is here he plans on showing me a few tricks with pinlines, airbrushing, and polishing. which got me stocked

the other night after asking me how we polish board and hearing my explanation he said i work to hard and that there is some sort of spray on polyurethane or soemthing that drys in about an hour. he said about 4 full coats on a car and it was shiny as ever.

i was skeptical on it, but he said i should bring a board over and he will spray it and see how it works. seems interesting. i wonder if itll work?

btw, not sure its poly or what...ill have to ask him and get an answer to see if u guys know what hes talking about

yeah, I did poly spray cans from homedepot for my first three, cut then polished... Then traditional gloss for my last two boards.

I won't be spraying again.

The gloss resin cut and polished much nicer than the spray poly did, and filled pinholes and sanding scratches, etc... the spray poly didn't do that, just made a shiny layer over the pinholes and sandpaper tracks. Just that made it a lot harder to polish out. If you aren't planning on doing a full rub-out, just a sealer coat, then it would probably be easier to spray it on. But if you want that "mirror" finish that they're getting at the auto body shop, you better have that hotcoat rubbed down to 600 grit, just like they do at the body shop.

Just my dos pesos.
