Has anyone stayed at a hostel on Oahu or on any of the other islands? I have some info but thought I'd ask on the BB. It would be cool to hear about past experiences or any advice that you might have.

My friend and I are planning a 2 week trip this May once the semester is over and we're trying to save as much $$$ as possible. Thought this might be the way to go.

I've stayed at the flying pig downtown in Amsterdam, Hostleing is fun, but I found that you enjoy it more if you go with some one. Always becareful at hostles, alot of the guests my seem nice and freindly, untill your board checks out with them.

Also a hostle with a bar is going to have some of the better drink deals in town.

As far as hostel goes, Backpackers on the North Shore of Oahu has a great location within walking distance to Waimea Bay and several other beaches.

Thanks for the link. I've checked it out and its given me some good info but only for honolulu. I know its the off season during the time I'll be going so staying on the north shore is not really a concern...I'll take any surf that I can find. This is really the only time I can travel so its not a huge deal.

If anyone else has info or experiences to share I'd appreciate it.

Polynesian Hostel Beach Club looks like the best place so far that I've found on Oahu.

If anyone has stayed there please fill me in...thanks a lot. This will be my first time traveling to the island so any info or advice would be great.

May time the south and east shores are usually the biggest. Theres a hostel down at the end of waikiki, great for nightlife and surf down there. Diamond Head pulls in the most swell and is usually the biggest and not too crowded. In town theres some good spots, Kaisers, Bowls, Pops and 3's. Crowded though on a good swell. On the eastside theres some good spots...Sandy's is a great beachbreak for bodysurfing and theres almost always surf over there.

awesome...thanks so much for the info.

Maybe I'll actually catch a swell while I'm there.
I'm sure it would beat the hell out of summer NJ surf.
