glassing question

I got my son a board kit from FoamEz and it came with 4oz glass. My question is how many layers should there be. I seem to have too much cloth for just one layer. I have already done the bottom with one layer of 4oz so should I have another layer? Also if I get lumps on the rails do you sand them down before doing the top?

Thanks

to get rid of the bumpy laps, baste with sanding resina and then sand. basting the foam a little is good. so u dont hit the foam when u get the lap line.

thanks all for the info. I went ahead and put 2 4oz layers on the bottom and will do the same for the top. Might make it a bit heavy but he is kinda hard on boards. Maybe it will last a little longer for him, but I sure he will only ride it for a few months before it is on the wall, have to save the first one. It was funny how excited he was to write his name on the stringer and make is own logo(8 ball surfboards) I was glad to see it and be there for his first board. I just hope my glassing doesn't it up. I'm sure this is the first on many so I will get better.
