Go to sidestep.com and use their software to compare prices offered by all airlines and other travel sites. Orbitz.com also has a pretty helpful feature that lets you compare prices if you've got some flexibility in your schedule. Give them the dates you want and then indicate whether you've got one - four days of flexibility. Sometimes you can save $100 or more by just leaving or departing one day earlier / later. Try using both programs with different departure cities within 100 miles or so of where you live - you might get lucky. If you lived on Folly you know how expensive it is to fly out of Charleston. I was kinda surprised to find that I would only save ~ $100 by flying out of Charlotte or Atlanta, so it really wasn't worth the drive. Good luck!

Round trip from Atlanta direct to San Jose: $450/person. Delta. The $75 airfare i spoke of in my C.R. post was a one way intra-country airfare from Tamarindo to San Jose.

Try the "SuperSearch" at travelzoo.com. It does a search of all the major travel sites (travelocity, priceline, etc.) The more flexible you can be with your dates the more money you will be able to save. Also, you could try ticotravel.com, they have pretty cheap flights from Miami and Orlando (you just have to find a cheap flight from Little Rock to one of these cities). Not sure if Southwest or Spirit has a Little Rock to Miami/Orlando route, but they have cheaps flight and it's worth a look. Ticotravel also has good deals on rental cars in Costa, if you're looking for one.

The cheapest ticket I could find was around $450 on United...and that was going from Charleston to DC - and then to San Jose. By the time I was able to confirm the dates with the other guy who's going, the best I could do was $524 (on Delta). Two weeks later it was up to $700+, and then dropped back to $550. From Little Rock I doubt you'll find it for less than $500, even though it can fluctuate (but usually in the wrong direction).
