Judging by the dialect, he's gotta be from somewhere out east turned expert reporter for nuanced surf conditions in San diego. I'm guessing Philly or Jersey.

I enjoyed every good swell at every reef in that sacred stretch of cliffs for 4 decades You have to be willing to sacrifice your comfort zone to fully embrace being downstream.
I spent most of the 90s surfing the cliffs. I remember driving there when I moved to SD in 1992. It was August and it was flat. I will never forget the day of the first big NW a few months later in October and I drove down Sunset Cliffs Blvd and looked out and saw lines to the horizon. I couldn't believe my eyes. I always liked Chasm and Rockslides. You could hear the outsiders getting "Gooned" at Newbreak from Chasm.
