The “sugar is an addictive drug” trope is just another in a long list of excuses that allow obese people to avoid any personal responsibility for their bad choices.Because you can buy sugar products in the supermarket.
Last I heard there's an obesity epidemic in the USA. Think sugar has anything to do with that?
Went to see my mom today. She was pushing cookies and Godiva chocolates on me. I was going to just say no...but ended up saying "Just one."

I chuckle at people who think they understand addiction, but so clearly haven't a clue. The “sugar is an addictive drug” trope is just another in a long list of excuses that allow obese people to avoid any personal responsibility for their bad choices.

Works well if you live alone or if everyone else in the house is also good with not having that stuff aroundDon’t keep any candy or sugar in the house. handful of berries In my oatmeal and a mango or apple here and there.
If it’s not around you can’t eat it.
I’m a non-drinking alcoholic, grew up in an alcoholic family, volunteer at drug rehabilitation facility and help addicts transition to a healthy lifestyle through jiu jitsu.I chuckle at people who think they understand addiction, but so clearly haven't a clue.
Couldn't the same thing be said for methamphetamine? It's my understanding that meth provides a bigger dopamine rush than any other drug. Hence it's "popularity" and leading to addiction very easily. Not exactly.
People aren't addicted to sugar, they're addicted to the dopamine rush.
I'll never understand the non-drinking alcoholic ("dry drunk," this used to be called not that long ago). How can you be an alcoholic if you don't drink? I think it just means you're an asshole.I’m a non-drinking alcoholic, grew up in an alcoholic family, volunteer at drug rehabilitation facility and help addicts transition to a healthy lifestyle through jiu jitsu.
