Why did I click on that? It's not like I full well know Yuri is going to be puttering around on knee high dribblers as always. Within a couple of mins he's already done 2 head dips to an upbeat backing track in a fruitless attempt to give this pathetic spectacle some sense of urgency and drama.

Salsa has special place in my heart, but Yuri is starting to give me the feels. A Mongolian in the system
To counterpoint my scathing initial assessment I then proceeded to watch the remainder of the video and he did drop a nugget of wisdom, which while being self evident to competent surfers could help learner gronks.

Smaller weak waves and the right equipment could be good for learning how to generate speed. And Skipper‘s technique could definitely benefit from surfskate training, if only to work on quicker responsiveness. It’s like he moves in slow motion and out of sync with most waves.

let's just be realistic though, he's been surfing for ten years, if he was going to figure it out he would have already.
I was pondering this with the post-COVID crowds. At what point does one stop being a learner and establish themselves as a sub-par to mediocre at best surfer?

I dont think he makes much money from this stuff...the boards he gets go up for sale almost immediately in a sort of desperate way. Compared to Boardporn who has a garage full of the same 28L board and sells em casually maybe once a year to make more space

90's prescription created many a ripper: ride a thinner longer railed board that's more about challenging than wave catching with a good dose of Hatebreed, Bad Brains, Black Flag, 7Seconds, Snapcase or similar ilk for a half hour to hour just prior to surfing
