It's the Rincon Classic, and Keet let you in, again, with a special exemption. The surf is perfectly normal for the 805 in January - meaning mostly waist to HH, windy, crappy. You see in your first heat you've got Tony Miller, Bromi Krock, Britt Merrick, Josh Pomer & Greg Venable.

Now what board will you choose?

Personally, I'd skip that heat and head to the J for some fun surf without those guys there!
Haha-- It isn't a special exemption, I surfed my first Rincon Classic in1984! I'll be moving up into the "Legends" next year , so I will be the a youngster in my division for a change.

P2, every time...
How would 24.10 liters in the P2 float a 145lb 38 y/o?

Asking as I'm not familiar with the foil of your boards.

The only reference I can work off of is Noel "Salsa" who rides his P2 @ 25.5 L @160lbs

Which seems very "pro".

24L typically feels pretty good, I'm guessing the rocker on this thing is a lot less than I normally ride so 24.1 should feel better.

Bro I've had 2 pyzaliens (original one) already. I'm 6ft tall 175lbs 39yo. Surf 5 times a week since I was a kid.
First Pyzalien was 30.8L. Second is 30L. Both are amazing boards, but I liked the 30.8L better - it may have been my best board ever. Yeah, Pyzaliens are that good.
Using the volume calculator (https://lostsurfboards.net/surfboard-volume-calculator/) to compare GF ratio, I would go towards 25L if I was 145lbs. But 24L is not far off neither.
Oh and I haven't had a p2 yet, which is more foiled.

I would go one size up for a legit shortboard/dd/step down/fish quiver killer.

My recent P2 acquisition is precisely the 24.1L stock 5'6" but I'm 132lbs 45 y/o. Above average fitness.

I have surfed it in knee high curvy wedges, onshore mushburgers, peaky a-frames and today pitchy overhead reef break surf with steep walls (somewhere in the J Bay vicinity) for max speed, on rail hp surfing. Usually I'd be on my 5.8" 23.3L CI black/white in these conditions. The P2 felt great off the bottom, off the top, on rail etc...

The rail has a knifey taper, tail is foiled out and has vee out the back so I wouldn't undersize it. I rode a way oversized 32-34l-ish OG pyzalien for a session, at a slopey beachbreak and even at that size it was lively.

That sounds a little on the small side to me, plus below you said "summer Portugal" which is generally going to be weaker, windswell kind of waves. I would go up a bit

Take a teaspoon of sea salt in the morning when you wake up (before coffee). Take like 4 poops and you feel light as a feather.
Undervolumed problem solved!
How many liters of…. PU does that net you?

If I was gonna support a local Oside Shaper it would Chem or Lost Ark. I think Bennett's Zen 4.1 with the twinzer and channels is pretty sick and Noah has a sick Rum Shot model with a double ended round nose round tail twin set up.

It's fine. You hate Wally. I get it.
