With the exception of Alec Baldwin's Trump, SNL hasn't been funny for a long time. I'm not sure when they jumped the shark but that shark died of old age some time ago.

the show has been inconsistent from day one
in an episode you'll have a dozen skits, only half of which are ever memorable
there is great content every time the show airs
is everyone forgetting that Steve forbes hosted previously? And even Trumby hosted.

The problem is the on air talent and the writers aren't particularly funny or talented. SNL used to employ The Who's who of upcoming comics as writers. Nowadays the writers are people who couldn't make Dane Cooks audience laugh. The cast members are awful now. Hissy fits over Elon.....Michael Che...terrible. Pete Davidson, terrible. Leslie Jones, terrible. etc etc
