I choose depending on waves and how “pro” I’m feeling, crowd….

This would work perfectly for me if I lived in California. Living in NJ though and surfing crappy waves usually in a full suit or full on winter gear I will amend it to read (Weight / 6) + 2 for East Coasters.

Interesting. Mine would be 30. I’m on at least 33L nowadays, mostly due to paddling. That’s my lower limit now, but I have no problem riding more foam: I can make 34-38 work

My 18yo is the same weight as you and does pretty good on 28 and 29 Liter boards.
