Cleaned out sh3’s channeled pod mod collection and a 9’0 gun. Saved some cash for a new board and he wanted the exact amount I had for all 3 so I figured it was meant to be. Had two really good sessions on the bigger pod mod already. I think 6 channels has been what’s missing in my surfing lately. Especially backside. Feels so locked in and tons of drive. Really like the varial also. Usually only like pu but these feel incredible.

Also realized I’ve been riding too much volume. Have tried boards +\- 1” in width but similar volume and jumping on this thing that’s about 4L less feels way better without losing any wave catching ability. The smaller pod mod might be pushing it but my kid will ride it if it ends up being too small for me.

Sick . Do you have nice fcs1 fins for them?
I’d get rid of those tail pads for sure.

Yea they came with am1’s which felt good. I have am2’s and pg7’s in solid glass and some pg5’s also. I actually like the pads. They have low arch. I’ve been running flat pads but these felt pretty good. Might take the one on the gun off.

STOCKED

And yeah, ditch the pad on the gun. That's an oldie. I don't run pads on any of my other guns, as you saw.

But still - STOCKED

Impulse control disorder

I had a 5'6 poly one a while back which was too small (6'2, 200), but after watching Zipper the other day I felt like I had to give it another crack. 5'8 spinetek

Bigger than I need for sure but for the price I couldn't pass it up. Once its too big to do turns I might as well get in early. Can be like the guys on guns at head high swamis.. Will try to find a 7'2" or 7'4" also. Someone actually just posted a DJ 7'2 or something on CL.. Will also let me kid use it when its big with allot of current so he has plenty of paddle power...

Don't have those, but not really a fan of 50/50 rears. H4s are my go to quads except for step ups, they are smooth and drivey
"Smooth and drivey" sounds good for a stepup. Do you feel like they are too big or why wouldn't you like them for that?

Yes. I usually like drivey fins, but in the ghost they just feel like too much fin. Would probably work if I had a set of mediums I could use for the front fins. In my mini padi I prefer a medium upright fin both for front and rear. I spent too many years thinking bigger waves require bigger fins haha

Used to be able to order fcs which I have for my 2x4 step up.

Speaking of step ups: just swapped my TC Sinner (too squirrely feeling) for a sabotaj. Curious how It will compare to the ghost

What are Ghosts and sabotaj dims?
Both stock
Ghost 6'2 x 19 5/8 x 2 11/16 32.7l
Sabo 6'2 x 19 1/2 x 2 9/16 33l

Sabotaj is my only board with futures, have yet to get fins for it. Was thinking f8 as I could get a set for cheap locally

FR73 has ridden both extensively, and he may chime in. My recollection is that the Sabotaj has more low end and is less finely tuned (fatter rails etc).

They look great.
