lol. He sent it to my wife as well. I’m in the garage waxing a new board and she’s telling me I need to take up golf.
I’m getting the same after the bite and sightings here. I keep saying I hope it brings the crowds down.
My wife would be loading up the board and driving me to the beach.
yuppers, instead of being bombarded with "you surf in the winter??" it's now "aren't you afraid of sharks?"
I’ll bet trainloads more people die on the golf course than die surfing.

I'll lay odds that if he had been prone paddling a shortboard, he'd be dead/missing an arm at best.
I had my first ever White Shark encounter this morning in Coronado. Paddled over a set wave that the lone guy outside of me caught and as I'm looking back watching him on the left I spot this dark shadow swimming right towards me. My initial thought was ahh sea lion, no big deal. As it gets closer I notice its much wider than a sea lion and definitely not a dolphin. Fucker swims straight under me and I'm looking down in the shallowish clear water and clearly notice a juvenile white shark about 6 feet long. Somewhat rattled I paddle in towards the guy who just kicked out and told him what I just saw. He shrugged it off and paddled right back out. I soon followed him back out and surfed fun uncrowded tropical swell for two more hours with no issues.
Thats because most of them are old pricks, and it's just a matter of time.
I have always told my wife and kids, that if I get killed by a Great White, I'm fine with that. It's a good way to kick the bucket(IMO). It sure beats a long hospital stay or extended disease, plus it's a good story for the grandkids.
