If your thinking about epoxy construction, they are worth checking out. Their boards last, dont suck water if dinged, priced well, good shaper lineup, and I like the way they feel under my feet. More lively than PU, but less corky than typical eps epoxy. Only time I don't use them is if I specifically need a pu board for something like a step or I'm working with a shaper they don't offer. How long it takes to get a board made from XTR and if you had a do over would you still get one from them why/why not???
Main reason I’m interested in using them is getting a couple Maurice Coles. No hurry so I gotta see if MC is gonna be shaping stateside anytime soon, if possible I’d rather he shaped them.If your thinking about epoxy construction, they are worth checking out. Tough old bastard lol, said on the instagram that he’s got new designs coming out…I just got a RV Diamond Twin in xtr. It's t!ts. Rails are foiled and thinned nicely, hard edge the bottom third of board, and channels are crispy and detailed. No complaints other than the deck channels depth. Such a good paddling and fun board. Would never guess it's 2 3/4 thick
Idk if I would count on MC himself being around anytime soon, although I may be wrong. I know he recently had massive heart surgery but is surfing again---recently in bali!
I am not sure looks like they carry fireturds now but Central Coast Surf used to stock MC boards and I thought at one time you could order customs when he was stateside maybe @stringcheese can help you seeMain reason I’m interested in using them is getting a couple Maurice Coles. Im a big fan of xtr but I’m gonna warn you the Maurice coles I have got from them are a bit off defiantly not the same a getting a board from Maurice or even Carlos. The vee was too Subtle in the boards are too foiled out your better off get a poly from CarlosMain reason I’m interested in using them is getting a couple Maurice Coles. RV step up is a nice board. Had one while living in the OBX.Idk , mine felt just like the ones in Real with a noticeable vee spine throughout. Rails might be thinner, but im not upset about it, and actually has a nice weight. I think an RV step up in xtr is on my short list now
Xtr has a few stock MC boards that they say are hand-shaped by the man himself. Also just saw they have a RV Diamond Twinzer nowMain reason I’m interested in using them is getting a couple Maurice Coles. I inquired the people at realwatersports who makes their MC's and the PU boards you see there are made at the XTR HQ. (Adding to the XTR-MC relationship)Xtr has a few stock MC boards that they say are hand-shaped by the man himself. Also just saw they have a RV Diamond Twinzer now
I haven't had mine in awhile - sold it a few years back, but it was a reliable small wave DD for me. I think I liked the Haydenshapes Large quads the best. I don't click with split keels quads.@tedshred5 Do you still dig your XTR rnf retro? What fin config worked best for you?
I rode a bru’s 5’9” (oversized for me) in lite speed in some waist to gut k38 waves
and fell in love. Dialing in my dims and hoping for some fin feedback.
