+/- foot half makes no difference in duck diving log does make difference in nose riding but I have a 8' "Malcom Campbell 5 fin mini log 8' x22" x2.75"I use for beach breaks some times reef works great super fast trim and can still do cheater 5's. I guess it depends how you wanna surf board oversized sb or you wanna go full trim and glide walk to nose

I want an easy paddler, that can still do basic open face roundies, floaters etc… Have a 7.0 Longline tkf on order and a 7.2 FM (2nd one) that is due in the next 2 days. Want something a touch longer - and never owned a mini- glider. Would go full 9-10’ glider but don’t have the storage space and the car to lug it around.

saw Oestes had a 8’ mini glider that he was happy with (see glider thread)

I did not have space first and ordered rode 8' mini log and love it but still nothing like 9'+ nose rider single so I made space and got a tbar rack that is mounted to my back yard shade structure :shaka:

I've had good luck with a Woodin 8' long fish glider quad type board. Although duck diving isn't ideal
It does fit in a car better than a log

Yeah, that was most of the reason I have mine at this size. I was also afraid of handling a 9-10 foot board post injury.
I can duckdive mine. It's nice since I tend to surf it in SF beachbreak more often than not.
Don't get me wrong, it's great. I've just realized that I think I'd rather have a less specialized board at that size and save the "gliding" for the size range that delivers on that sensation.

Again, I still enjoy riding mine, but there are times it feels more limiting than it needs to be.

Hope you dig yours.
Plenty of SD guys can make you something. Mines a Ward Coffey.
