Got my custom a few days ago. So far so good with AMKs. A session with Rasta Keels was good as well, but I liked the stiffer all glass AMKs, especially backside. Felt like I could square up on the bottom turn and get to the lip faster and more “vertical” than any other twin fin I’ve had. Feels similar to my Burch Cuttle fish, but with a more thruster feel. Rails and tail are thin, so don’t expect this to be a cruisey, “stay on top of the water” fish. You can surf it very aggressive and sink its rails through turns. I just wonder how easily the tails will break off......especially on one with the ultra light logo.
I put a tailpad on it to absorb some impact and to keep my foot from going too far down on the tail.
Tucker, who ChaseTMP mentioned earlier, snapped one side of the swallowtail without a tailpad. He immediately ordered another one, he likes it so much. But It wasn’t anything out of the ordinary or I hadn’t seen before, and I’m not worried about it with a tailpad on mine

West of the Atlantic. East of the ICW.
I would imagine that would change the entire feel and performance of the board
Not for Average Joe. Average Joe isn't good enough or sensitive enough to flex the tail or perceive what is going on when the tail flexes. Less than 10% of board buyers are good enough to percieve any difference and I'm being really generous saying 10%. Its probably more like 1%.

Most modern twins have fins set around 9.5 to 10”.

i used to set mine at 7.5” as it seemed to be a solid compromise between looseness/spin out and drive.

Also that CI is leaning against a wall throwing the boxes in odd perspective. It would be nice to know actual numbers

as someone mentioned, the big twinsusually hang past the end of the boxes, so who knows

looks fun though

I would guess the difference would be immediately felt coming off the bottom and even just pumping down the line especially if it's top to bottom and I think that puts more than 1% in that category.

I would guess to add any significant strength with modern materials you're going to have to make things noticeably stiffer.(?)

IDK, to me that doesn't look like a board and fin placement where your back foot would be anywhere past the butt crack of the swallow. Just my opinion though. Board sounds awesome Dylan

Its the wings of the tail that I'm referring to.
Yeah...that’s what I figured you were referring to. The kick in the tailpad keeps my foot from going over the cut out in the tail(hence putting too much pressure on the “wings” to snap it off) and from crushing the deck

I think the pressure would come from the flex/force the tail experiences via the water with a UL glass job, not the your foot.

My foot never touches the wings on my twin keels but the glass shows they must flex a whole lot regardless.

Mebbe I'm wrong.
