It's almost as if Covid-19 was a novel disease, our government officials were ill prepared for a massive pandemic, and it took time to figure sh!t out. Imagine that.
Most of what you're complaining about are policy decisions and the consequences of federalism, not problems with scientific method. On the other hand we could have just stuck with Trump's position that covid was fake news and would magically disappear.
