The extremes of both socialism and capitalism have already proven themselves to be fatally flawed. I think America will seesaw slightly from side to side for a long time to come. Any two party system will inevitably result in an approximate 50/50 split of the electorate over the long haul. Each party will reach out to whatever coalition of special interests and compromises it takes to attempt to outrun the opposition.
Before long the two parties will probably be so similar in deed that the litmus test that comprises the dividing line between them will be something ridiculous like abortion or gay marriage.
Oh wait, we already have that ridiculousness.
I remember Newt shooting his mount off about the one mid-term election that signaled the beginning of a 100-year GOP dynasty. Only a moron would have taken that claim seriously. The DNC would do well to heed that farce as an example of what not to do.
