So sad when you see someone with a brand new custom or an expensive alt build and they have some tacky pad from a budget seller or a Dakine pad from 6 seasons ago that they got off Evo.com to save $10.

Buy a nice color coordinated pad for your $700+ board.
Album should make a pizza box stain traction pad :waving:

honestly, album and a couple of the other boutique-y brands that do resin tints on basically everything seem like they're very self conscious that a big part of the marketing/brand is that guys posting their new board on instagram or whatever -- I'm sorta surprised that they don't suggest or include pads with complementary color highlights.

HaydenShapes makes somewhat of a decent looking fish traction pad

I can't find a more current thread on traction pads so I'll resurrect this one.

I've got a few boards to pad up. A fishy quad and a step up. In a perfect world I'd roll down to my local shop and grab one off the wall. In this imperfect world, my local shop does not keep a robust selection of pads in stock and they start at $48 if I find one there or at Proof Lab.

Questions:

-Are there any that people are staying away from?
-Are people paying $50+?
-Are people buying pads on Amazon? When I google "Da kine traction pad" several amazon links pop up undercutting the DTC Da Kine page. Legit? Past season? does it matter? Is sttep/cheap or backcountry any different?

The Dagobah System
I’ve tried Colby+ 2 piece flat pad and a leash. Both cost effective and as good as anything else I’ve tried in the last few years. I like thinner corduroy pads so it fits the bill. Also tried the Surf Squared front traction a while back. Was good enough as well. Seems to be all the same sh!t, just unlabeled/unbranded. Sites like Evo also often have name brand pads on sale for a good price. I’m not super picky on traction and am self aware about my surfing abilities, so “good enough” is my default requirement.
