County Clare. Specifically a village called Doonbeg. I’m bidding on 6 nights in a cottage overlooking the Atlantic. Like, on a cliff above the ocean, surrounded by green fields. There has to be surf nearby ish right?

Sick. I’m gonna win this thing (fundraiser for the sag harbor whaling museum) and finally get to Ireland. Wife doesn’t know it yet she’s going to pee herself with excitement.

You know when? Mid Sept is probably best, water low 60;s and picks up swell from any tropical system in Atlantic.

And what do you think? October for the best balance of fall North Atlantic swell and still warm enough for golf and hikes and touristing about?

ha you just answered my question.I can use it any time (depending on availability of course) between now and December 2023

sept is definitely do able. Hell if I win I don’t see why I can’t fly out there this September. Spend 6 nights in the cottage in Clare. And another week or 2 exploring other parts of the country side.

head up to doolin, check the cliffs of mohr, a town called dingle has a harbor with an island just offshore that's totally surfable, and the offshore islands, inisheer and the others, are where the malloy family keeps boards just in case the swell hits. that area is dreamy.

I always trip out about places in Europe like Mundaka, Portugal and in Ireland, Mullaghmore etc where generations of dairy/cattle/ag farmers or whatever worked the land for centuries with big crazy or perfect waves right under their noses and for whatever reason never got any attention until the 90s or so. I mean, I don't think you need to understand anything about surfing to see something that spectacular and just let it go unnoticed.

doolin and dingle. seriously, some of the most amazing sights ever. cliffs of mohr is where eileens, the big wave seen in videos, is at. and down from there is that slabby left. but those offshore islands. perfection at 50 degrees.

So Ireland is pretty small, I’m thinking 6 nights in the cottage, and then 3 nights each in two other cool regions and just surf and day trip and explore and eat potatoes and maybe join a football riot if we’re lucky. And probably 1-2 nights in Dublin to start the trip

have to take in a hurling match too I reckon
